Griffin Survivor ruggedized iPad case - the only case (that I know of) that protects all ports on the iPad (though not waterproof)
As I face the possibility of going back into another feature film production I want to commit to using my iPad and not lug around stacks of notes and script pages. Of course I've always used my iPad on production but when the shit hit the fan and I'm moving like a madman, I tend to pack away my iPad out of concern that I'd seriously scratch or damage it. Enter the Griffin Survivor ruggedized case. The good: it's one of the only case to COMPLETELY enclose the iPad. All ports, camera, and even speaker have silicon flaps that cover them - they can be bent or twisted away to reveal the necessary ports. It also uses a hard clear cover for the screen and none of that cling wrap shit that takes forever to properly stick onto the screen. The bad: it's not waterproof (but that's forgivable) but it makes your slimmed iPad (2 and 3) bulky like a tank. Suddenly bags that I used to use for my iPad don't fit anymore. And inserting and removing the iPad from the case is not the easiest of tasks so it's a long term fixture. And there's not real cover for the screen protector (the Otterbox Defender comes with a cover but the case itself leaves the camera and speaker open to the elements). But overall I give the Griffin Survivor case a thumbs up. Now for the field test during production!
