Say good bye to yesterday

Yet another downtown Long Beach establishment is going the way of the do-do. The downtown post office will be closing it's doors, most likely, as a results of the economic woes that we are all too familiar with. I liked this office, not only for the convenience of its proximity to our place, but because the building itself has that 1930's classic bank feel with its hefty concrete, rectangular presence and interior floors of cool polished stone. I wonder what will become of the building once the post offices is gone?

Art in a Box

I've always passed by these cargo containers on the corner of Broadway and Long Beach Blvd near my home in downtown but never knew the full story behind them. Apparently they're being used as an art gallery or sorts for Cal State Long Beach art pieces - "Go Beach." You can read the full story HERE.

A tear for tech

I just saw this car driving around downtown Long Beach. Apparently it's some newfangled electric car with some pretty cool features. You can read more about it HERE.

They're holding the TED conference next door at the LB Performing Arts Center and supposedly Bill Gates is set to make an appearance. Get this, I didn't know anything about all this until the UPS guy told me about it. The UPS guy is one a cool dude - plus I like getting packages (that don't blow up).
