I walk into the restaurant with my daughter and ask if they only take cash - the jolly lady waves me in and tells me to not worry. Then from there the waitress was swift in recommending me the pork thigh combination meal even though I came in wanting beef noodle soup - I went with the flow and never looked back. What I got was basically like a tender lamb shank but with pork and I was in swine heaven (people who cringe at pork fat beware!). I grew up loving that Taiwanese dark soy sauce flavoring where everything is brown, even the egg. Even my rice was brown with sauce and even more chipped pork! Now I am looking forward to the beef noodles when I go back but it may have to wait after a few more pork dishes. By the way, I had 14 dollar bills in my pocket and the meal (which fed me and my daughter) cost $10 flat - she was right, I didn't have to worry!
