Chicky Fried for the win

5.0 star rating
11/9/2011

I have to say this is the beast fried chicken I've had hands down (in SoCal that is). I'd give it one less star because the restaurant itself is a little rundown but after eating at Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken and previously eating at the over-rated Roscoe's, I realized how good this place's chicken is. Sure ambiance is part of the of the restaurant experience but I am talking about the chicken here. And for those people who complain about it being greasy - sure, less grease is a good sign but it's fried for crying out loud, as in fried in oil. It is the breast meat that separates this place from others (although I like dark meat, dark meat is easier to cook right). The breast meat here is juicy and plump where the strands of meat separate like string cheese. The breast meat at Honey's was good but the meat didn't maintain it's nice plump stinginess and kind of crumbled. So in my mind, Chicky's is the standard by which I will measure all fried chicken I eat from now.
