A Cold Fish
Shion Sono's COLDFISH was great because it both led me on and seemingly predicted all the deviant and perverse possibilities I imagined for the characters - things I probably wouldn't openly admit to thinking. There are moments when it seemed to grandstand and or play into the part of being excessive but it did have something interesting to say about it all. On another note, most of the film consisted of very deep focus shots which is commonly associated with a very digital, ENG, or even TV look. Despite this I found the movie to be very cinematic. Maybe it was the lighting, maybe it was the composition - certainly something to ponder.
