Jury Dooty

Shit! I forgot I have jury duty next month. I'm all for civil service but it's pretty inconvenient. Last time I had jury duty it was in Santa Ana and some young Latino allegedly shot and killed someone in a drug deal. It took 2 days before they dismissed me because I had mentioned I knew someone in a gang. The prosecutor was all over me after that - I don't remember the exact questions she asked but I remember feeling offended by the end of the questioning. The defense was a cool-calm Edward James Almos type that probably wanted me on the jury. Can't say I could predict what could have come of it all but many of the potential jurors were older than me (I was probably in my mid 20s) and many of them just had no sympathy for the defendant right from hearing the brief of the case. But any event that can stir me to write this much is a good experience so I can't say I'm entirely against
going again.
